Leah Gagnon, director of patient engagement at Wesley House, says the Gathering Place has weathered the first winter storm of the season. Opened on Wednesday, the new shelter has provided a place for homeless citizens to sleep during the recent cold snap. Hosting 10 people on the first night, and 15 on Thursday night, Gagnon said she has been lucky not to have to turn anyone away. more

On what would normally be their day off, employees and staff at Girard’s Eastside Diner volunteered their time to give 130 kids and their parents a free breakfast with Santa Claus on Tuesday. Eastside owner Andrew Faucett said that each child, from four-months-old to 16 years, received their own gift, purchased with $2,500 in donations. more
