Northeast softball moved to 19-3 on the season after splitting against host Riverton on Friday, losing the opener 16-7 and winning the nightcap 13-8.
Erin Doubledee's three hits and four RBI (including a home run) were not enough for the Vikings in the opener. Destiny Hagan also doubled and finished with three hits. Brylee Rakestraw also had two hits for the Vikings' 11-hit attack.
Northeast scored five runs in the first and one each in the second and third. Riverton plated four in the first, eight in the second and four in the fifth. The Vikings struggled in the field, committing 15 errors that led to 13 unearned runs.
The Vikings responded in the nightcap and finished with 13 runs on 12 hits and committed only two errors in the field aside pitcher Ciara Neville.
Neville earned the win and she allowed eight runs (six earned) on nine hits with five strikeouts and three walks over seven innings. She finished at 127 pitches.
Doubledee again led the Vikings at the plate with two hits and three RBI. Hagan scored three runs and finished with two hits, including a double. Ceeli O'Banion and Jaycee Maples also had two hits and Neville, O'Banion and Presley Warford all drove in two runs apiece. Maples stole three of the Vikings' 10 bases.
Northeast closes out regular-season play Thursday at home against Galena. The Vikings will find out their Class 2-1A regional draw on Wednesday; Northeast entered the week third overall in 2-1A Regional 3.
