Northeast baseball swept by Riverton

Northeast baseball traveled to Riverton on Friday and lost both games by run-rule against the Rams, 17-3 in three innings and 13-3 in five innings.

Jaxson Payne led Northeast in the opener with two hits, one run scored and one RBI; Payne accounted for half of the Vikings' four hits and his triple was their lone extra-base hit.

Hayden Baker and Conner Hill had the Vikings' other two hits against Riverton pitcher Jordyn Mann.

Levi Mann and Bo Crowder finished with four and three RBI to lead the way for the Rams' offense.

Dalton Sherman had Northeast's lone hit in the nightcap against Riverton starter Levi Mann. Cameron Quick pitched four scoreless and hitless innings for the Rams and finished with seven strikeouts and one walk.

Payne, Wyatt Stansbury and Tegan Mitchell scored Northeast's runs all in the first and Sherman drove in Payne and Stansbury for a quick 2-0 lead. Mann walked Payne, Stansbury and Mitchell.

Northeast dropped to 7-15 on the season and the 10th-seeded Vikings play No. 7 Sedan on the road in a Class 2-1A Regional 3 contest Thursday.
