Linebacker was a strong suit during Pittsburg State’s run to the MIAA championship last season. And that’s the case again this year despite the graduation of two All-Americans. Leaders among this year’s corps include a quartet of juniors: • Dubem Okonkwo, who was third in the conference in quarterback sacks (10.5 for minus-67 yards) and tackles for loss (15 for minus-80 yards); • Alex Gaskill, whose 63 total tackles are most among the returnees and included 14 stops behind the line of scrimmage; • Luke Jennings, who made 37 tackles; • Jack Barley, who had 22 tackles and blocked two kicks.
