Frontenac boys finish second at Columbus

Frontenac boys golf finished second in the par-72 Columbus Invitational on Thursday at Brush Creek.

The Raiders carded a four-man team score of 357 and Baxter Springs won the title at 340 behind medalist Cole Parrish (1-over-par 73) and two others among the top-7 finishers. Independence finished third at 358, Girard fourth 363, St. Mary’s Colgan fifth 367, Columbus sixth 382 and Columbus ‘A’ seventh 495. Riverton did not have enough players for team score.

Frontenac’s Jacob Kyser and Ace Varsolona earned medals, finishing sixth at 85 and ninth at 88. Duke Gariglietti was 15th at 90, Grant Frazier 20th at 94, Bryce Hill 23rd at 96 and Jericho Compton 35th at 108.

Jamie Hamilton led Colgan in third place at 79 and Jack Krusich also earned a medal with eighth place at 87. Jackson Carson finished 27th at 100, Gabe Stockard 30th at 101 and Xander Reading 36th at 111.

Girard’s Ryder Snell, Harrison Burke and Ayden Crozier all finished just outside the top-10 with all three golfers shooting 17-over 89. Adrian Newton and Landon Yockey both shot 96 and finished 22nd and 24th. Keaton Huber was 32nd at 32-over 104.

Riverton's Slate Wells finished one shot behind Parrish at 74.

Baxter’s Colt McCoy and Landon Atkinson were fourth and seventh at 82 and 87. Independence’s Koehn Perry shot 85 and placed fifth and his teammate Eli McCambridge finished 10th at 89.
