Mr. Peyton’s claim that he is “not making fun” of trans people is not enough to make it true. “What if I identified as [x]” is such a cliche that in trans circles, it’s known as “the one joke” and nobody is fooled that he doesn’t think it’s funny or denigrating to make this case. What’s worse is that he thinks it’s a rebuttal to something, instead of a non sequitur.
