Kansas will celebrate its 162nd birthday Sunday, Jan. 29, Kansas Day. Many reading this column will remember being taught “Kansas History” when in school. That class went by the wayside several years ago as part of the annual curriculum in our schools but there are several teachers who will take note of this special date for our state and why it is important.
