Jean Michel Pierre Nesson was born on June 24, 1940, in Shanghai China to Jean Joseph Nesson and Vera Podbolotova and left this world due to complications from cancer and Alzheimer's dementia at 86 years on Thursday Sept. 24, 2026, while in hospice care in Wichita KS at 2:08 p.m.

He lived with family in Menton France until he graduated at the age of 16 in 1956. From there the family settled in San Francisco, California and Jean enlisted in the United States Navy where he was a Gunner’s Mate on several carriers during his six years of service achieving the rank of SN. He then worked at Hughes Aircraft Company, MBP Excel, and the Boeing Company in Wichita, KS from which he retired from work as an electrician on May 1, 2001.

Jean (known as Gene) and wife Darlene met at Hughes Aircraft Company in California and were married in 1976 and then moved to Peabody KS where they had their daughter Michelle.

He enjoyed family movie nights and recording music/listening to Neil Diamond and Martin Denny. He was very social and enjoyed meeting new people and speaking French when he had the opportunity. He also loved fishing, camping, and mushroom hunting. Favorite movies included the Star Wars trilogy and Star Trek (including the TV series as well).

Jean was preceded in death by his mother and father and is survived by his daughter Michelle (Roe), her husband Sean and their two children Dylan and Liah, his son David and his children Audrina, Brittany, Mystic, and Lycan, his son Deon and wife Eileen and children Deon and Christian, and his step son Stephen and his son Michael.

The funeral will be Saturday, Oct. 24, with the Recitation of the Rosary at 10 a.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., all at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 109 E. 9th, Pittsburg KS with the burial following at Garden of Memories.
