CHEROKEE, Kan. — USD 247 held a special meeting Monday night at Southeast High School to review survey results from staff, students, parents, and community members regarding the district’s 109-year-old Weir Elementary building. Over the past several months, the district has mulled over what to do with the aging building, which has raised structural and safety concerns due to water leakage and other issues. Currently, third and fourth grade students who were previously in the Weir Elementary building are being taught at Southeast Middle School.
