PITTSBURG, Kan. — An “out of this world experience” took place Thursday morning with the return of the Pittsburg State University Therapeutic Recreation Department’s “TR-Iffic Day” event held at the Robert W. Plaster Center. Themed outer space, the twice-yearly event was held in partnership with Special Olympics Kansas (SOKS), offering an “intergalactic adventure” designed to give individuals of all ages with various disabilities the chance to enjoy a morning full of activities with close to 300 participants and volunteers. “We’ve been doing this for eight years, and we do it twice a year, so this is roughly our 16th time doing this,” said recreation and therapeutic recreation professor Laura Covert-Miller.
