GIRARD, Kan. — Dave Perricone, treasurer of Southeast Kansas Recycling Center (SEK-R), presented the County Commission with a sponsorship proposal on Tuesday to help ease the center’s fiscal difficulties. Currently operating on a limited schedule of two days a week, Fridays and Saturdays, and now charging $10 a carload, the center is still in dire straits. Perricone told the commission the center needs to see 300 cars a week to stay viable, but in the last two weeks, only 200 have shown up in total.
