PITTSBURG, Kan. — This previous weekend, the SEK Humane Society just west of Pittsburg held its first-ever “Shelter-Paw-ty,” celebrating a significant milestone. Around September, SEK Humane Society Director Jasmine Kyle visited the Crawford County Commission, noting that without support from the county and surrounding communities, the shelter would close at the end of December after 52 years of operation. As of mid-November, however, the shelter is able to remain open until mid-May, or potentially longer.
