PITTSBURG, Kan. – Pittsburg State ROTC cadets took turns, Thursday, reading the names of the 2,983 people who died as result of the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. As the measured cadence continued, cadets, local first responders and officials marked each name with a pushup. The ceremony was interrupted six times with canon fire in memory of pivotal moments of that day’s events: at 8:46 a.m., when Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower; at 9:03 a.m., when Flight 175 crashed into the South Tower; at 9:37 a.m., when Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon; at 9:59 a.m., when the South Tower collapsed; at 10:03 a.m., when Flight 93 crashed into a field in Pennsylvania; and finally, at 10:28 a.m., when the North Tower collapsed.
