PITTSBURG, Kan. — Spurred by the recent announcement of a Planned Parenthood clinic to open in Pittsburg soon, pro-life supports from all around southeast Kansas and the Four States gathered at the St. Mary’s Colgan Fieldhouse on Friday night to learn what they can do to counter the new clinic. Guest speakers included Chuck Weber, executive director of the Kansas Catholic Conference; Bonnie Toombs of the Wichita Catholic Diocese, Stephanie Nemechek of the Project Rachael Ministry, and Frances Oldweiller and staff members of the Pittsburg Vie Clinic. With neighboring states banning abortion, pro-life advocates in Kansas are concerned that the state is becoming an “abortion destination” as women from Missouri, Oklahoma, and even as far away as Texas and Louisiana flock to the Sunflower State seeking abortions.
