PITTSBURG, Kan. — A Pittsburg man was seriously injured in a rear-end collision Friday, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol. 34-year-old Nolan Smith of Pittsburg was driving southbound on U.S. 69 in a 2001 Chevy Malibu and 21-year-old Matthew Dugan of Lamar, Missouri, was also driving southbound on 69 at about 5:55 p.m. Friday when Dugan stopped for a red light at U.S. 160 but Smith failed to stop and struck the rear of Dugan’s 2017 Dodge truck, according to the KHP. Dugan was apparently uninjured in the crash, but Smith was transported to Freeman Hospital for treatment of suspected serious injuries.
