PITTSBURG, Kan. — In a 17-minute session on Tuesday, the Pittsburg City Commission heard another appeal to rescind its 2001 support of the US-69 West Alignment, authorized the purchase a new fuel truck for the airport, and tabled a vote on the creation of a Neighborhood Advisory Council (NAC). During public comments, Chicopee resident Jerry Lomshek again approached the commission to rescind support of the Kansas Department of Transportation’s proposal to build a new bypass along the western edge of Pittsburg, Frontenac, Franklin, and Arma. At the last commission meeting, the commissioners voted not to rescind the 2001 letter of support in a 3-2 decision, citing the lack of information concerning the now popular Middle Alignment.
