GIRARD, Kan. — Jasmine Kyle, director of the SEK Humane Society, and Sabina Brackett, a member of the board of directors, went before the county commission on Tuesday in dire need of help. According to Kyle, the shelter is “at a crisis point” if it does not get the funding it needs to continue operations. Without support from the county and surrounding communities, the shelter will close at the end of December after 52 years in operation.
