Starting June 21, through October, Crawford State Park is scheduled to host outdoor education programs at the lake at Aggie’s Dream Storm Shelter on the east side of the lake on East Lake Road. The first program focuses on star gazing at 8:45 p.m. on June 21 followed by birding (10 a.m., July 12), animals (10 a.m., Aug. 16), native plants (TBD, Sept. 27), and butterfly migration (10 a.m., Oct. 4). Organized by the Friends of Crawford State Park, with support from the Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas, the program is led by area experts with equipment and supplies provided, and no registration required.
