CHEROKEE, Kan. — The Cherokee Methodist Church will host a special recital at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, called “Throughout the Years” featuring pianist Jim Benson, who has had a long career of playing music. Benson was born and raised in Cherokee and discovered a love of the piano when he would go visit his grandparents, who lived right across the street. His grandmother was from Austria and his grandfather was from Germany, so it was like visiting another country, Benson says.
