ARMA, Kan. — When an explosive wildfire destroyed Yates Center Health and Rehab, a group of crafters in Arma sent them a handmade message: “We’re thinking of you.” Friday afternoon, according to the City of Yates Center Police Department, a fire started near South Owl Lake in the southwestern portion of the city. The blaze was just over a half-mile from the nursing home and high winds pushed the blaze directly toward the facility. Staff and emergency personnel successfully evacuated the 38 residents, but the flames quickly destroyed the building.
