FRONTENAC, Kan. — For many kids, the opportunity to spend time with grandparents is a special, precious time, which is why Frank Layden Elementary School in Frontenac has an annual celebration dedicated to all of the grandparents of the first graders. The annual tradition of celebrating Grandparents Day started decades ago, and the school has kept the tradition alive every year except for 2020, when they did a video recording of the performance. Each year, all the first graders make special crafts and cards for their grandparents and perform two songs complete with dance moves on the stage in the gym.
