CHEROKEE, Kan. — Faced with multiple issues in the 109-year-old Southeast Elementary School building in Weir, the USD 247 Board of Education voted in June to move third and fourth graders into space in the Southeast Middle School in Cherokee for the 2025-2026 school year. Now a few weeks into the semester, the youngsters are adjusting well to the new environment, according to Dr. Brad Miner, superintendent. “The kids seem to be adjusting well over to the middle school,” Miner said.
