PITTSBURG, Kan. — The Kansas Senate voted 22 to 16 to eliminate all sales tax on groceries on Thursday, Feb 23. Not only would the state tax be gone, but also county and municipal taxes as well. Last year, Governor Laura Kelly’s “axe the tax” campaign originally promised to eliminate the 6 percent state sales tax on groceries by January of this year.
