GIRARD, Kan. — During Monday’s Girard City Council meeting, a couple of representatives from the Crawford County Fair Board and Wildcat Extension District received permission from councilmembers to purse a grant that could potentially offer a larger indoor facility for fairgoers and community members. The council met with Wildcat Extension Family Resource Management and Entrepreneurship Agent Julie Smith as well as Crawford County 4-H Youth Development Agent Will Morris along with Crawford County Fair Board President Amy Brown to discuss the potential of applying for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. “Last year, Johanna (O’Brien, Girard City Administrator) kind of talked about the potential to apply for a CDBG Grant under the community facilities portion of CDBG for a new building at the fairgrounds,” Smith said.
