Girard Council talks water project, winter season

GIRARD, Kan. — In late October, higher-than-expected bids forced the Girard City Council to reexamine its plans for the water infrastructure project. The council initially planned to build a brand-new 1 million-gallon-per-day (MGD) groundwater treatment plant, anticipated to demolish its existing water treatment plant, and rehabilitate two wells. However, bids exceeded expectations.
