GIRARD, Kan. — From scholarships to facility repairs to plaques, the “Fallen Trojans” continue to make a lasting impact in the community of Girard, evident in its annual memorial golf tournament held Friday at Crawford Hills Golf Course. In its 17th year, the Fallen Trojans, a group of alumni who contribute to the community, hosted their yearly tournament on a cloudy, misty afternoon as community members, school faculty, students, and golf enthusiasts gathered to play a round of golf while also honoring graduating students as well as alumni who have died. “We honor on plaques out here at the golf course former athletes, cheerleaders, and we’ve got some school officials who were here for years who have passed away,” said Fallen Trojans member Roger McCracken.
