GIRARD, Kan. –– Sheriff Bill Tomasi met with the Crawford County Commission on Friday to update them on the latest saturation patrol conducted by the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office (CRSO) in conjunction with numerous law enforcement agencies in the area. According to Tomasi, nearly 40 officers and 4 K-9 units from Pittsburg Police, Fort Scott Police, Bourbon County Sheriff, Cherokee County Sheriff, the KBI and Highway Patrol converged in Crawford County on Wednesday night to conduct a saturation patrol. A saturation patrol is a tactic used by law enforcement to concentrate a large number of officers in a confined geographic area to deter crime by appearing to be omnipresent.
