GIRARD, Kan. — During Friday’s county commission meeting, the commissioners set a date for an amended budget hearing on December 19. The reason for the hearing is to make necessary changes to this year’s budget as the year draws to a close, accounting for extra and unexpected expenditures not accounted for when the budget was first drafted. Amending the budget does not mean that more taxes need to be collected this year.
