PITTSBURG, Kan. — The Halloween Window Painting Contest is back again, and the event sponsors are seeking children ages 5 to 12 to participate.
Scan the QR code below to register a child or children for the contest. The deadline to register an artist is Oct. 5.
Pittsburg businesses can register to have their windows painted and can request a child to be assigned to their location. The paints are washable.
All painting materials are free to artists thanks to Ryan-Dittmann Insurance. Window painting will be completed by Thursday, October 15, just in time for the PSU Homecoming Parade. All participating businesses and winning artists will be highlighted in the Morning Sun.
The deadline to register a business is Friday, Sept. 25.
Businesses can sign up to participate online at the Downtown Facebook page or City of Pittsburg website or call the Community Development Department at 620-230-5637.
Artist supplies will be picked up at ArtForms Gallery at 620 N. Broadway Street, Pittsburg KS. Pickup for materials will be Tuesday, Oct. 13 to Thursday, Oct. 15 between noon and 6 p.m. Children must have adult supervision while painting. Parents/guardians are responsible for keeping the downtown streetscape, sidewalks, and store windows are free of paint spills, trash or debris.
Two age categories are included: 5-8 and 9-12. A winner will be chosen in each age category. Judging will take place on Friday, Oct. 16.
