PITTSBURG, Kan. — Seniors from all six Crawford County high schools ventured to the Pittsburg State campus to visit with local leaders from the city, county, and state about the importance of local government, the role it plays in their daily lives, and some of the topics they deal are concerned about. Local Government Day was first inspired by retired Frontenac Social Studies teacher Lee Brunetti to give current high school seniors a glimpse into local politics and issues before they graduate and become part of the electorate. The pandemic put a temporary stop to the event until this year when Brunetti’s successor, Brady Hill, resurrected the program.
