PITTSBURG, Kan. — Since 1984, motorcyclists in the area have been gathering on the first weekend of November to perform an unofficial parade that ends at the Salvation Army, where the bikers deliver toys for the charity organization’s annual Toy Box campaign. This year, the Pittsburg Toy Run will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, in the Big Lots parking lot. When Joely Phelps’ uncle, Daniel Gath, who had been organizing the Toy Run for the past 19 years, passed away in 2018, she and her cousin, Erika Grant, decided to continue Gath’s tradition every year.
