Excerpted stories in Crawford County newspaper archives 100 years ago July 22, 1925 Two new mines representing an expenditure of $750,000 when fully developed and furnishing employment for 600 additional men will be sunk in District 14 by the Western Coal & Mining Company, James D. Delaney, superintendent, stated today. Work of sinking Western No. 23, three-fourths of a mile north of Minden, Mo., will begin within two weeks, material having been ordered from Louisiana for the purpose.
