Excerpted stories in Crawford County newspaper archives 100 years ago July 11, 1925 Plans for a more adequate lighting system on East Seventh Street, from the post office east to the Kansas City Southern depot, were discussed at a conference of members of the city commission with Engineer Majors of the K. C. S. engineering department late yesterday afternoon. As a result of the conference, definite action may be taken soon to extend the white way system now ending at the post office, east five blocks to the Southern depot. Mr. Majors indicated that the Southern would be willing to pay for installing the white way poles on both sides of the street, numbering 24, at a cost of approximately $4,000, if the city in turn would pay for the cost of maintenance, estimated at about $300 A year.
