NEWS DIRECTORS/EDITORS: The country’s public lands agencies, including its treasured national parks, face the loss of thousands of workers through buyouts, early retirements and layoffs -- driven by the Trump administration’s workforce reduction plan. The park service has been the subject of an aggressive downsizing effort, which could impact park hours, safety and upkeep. Hundreds of millions of tourists are expected to visit national parks this summer.
