Multiple school records fall at Thad Clements Invitational

The Pittsburg boys' 4x100 and 4x400 relay squads made history Friday night at the Thad Clements Invitational.

Kordae Hayes, De'Marus Partee, Malakai Meadows and Isaiah Rosenberg tied a school record with 42.91 seconds in the 4x100 and set a new school record in the 4x400 with a time of 3:23.24.

The 4x400 won the race and the 4x100 finished second to Labette County.

Pittsburg finished third on the boys side with 115.5 points, behind Southeast Kansas League rivals Chanute (169) and Labette County (160). St. Mary's Colgan finished seventh at 39 and Southeast ninth 32.5 points.

On the girls side, Pittsburg, Colgan and Southeast finished 3-4-5 with 94, 88 and 75 points, respectively. Labette County won at 162 and Chanute finished second with 120.5 points.

PITTSBURG

De'Marus Partee swept titles in the 110- and 300-meter hurdles, winning the former in 14.56 and the latter in 40.51. Kordae Hayes placed fourth in the 300 (42.30) and Elijah Marban ran fifth in the 1,600 (4:56).

Malakai Meadows and Dawsyn Mooney won titles in the triple jump (45 feet, 6 inches) and the javelin (159-7). Halen Moss and Andrew Hinspeter were third (11-0) and fifth (9-6) in the pole vault. Mooney also finished third in the shot put (46-10) and Logan Southard complemented Mooney's event victory with a sixth in the javelin (121-8).

On the girls side, Kyndal Bugni won titles in the triple jump (36-9 1/4), long jump (17-11) and high jump (5-6) and finished second in the 400 (1:01).

Promise Brooks won the 100 hurdles (17.43). Rylie Shultz was fifth in the 800 (2:36). The 4x100 was fourth in 52.89 and the 4x400 was fifth (4:29). Kylin Perry finished second in the javelin (117-9) and Savannah Shires fourth in the pole vault (8-6).

COLGAN

On the girls side, Mari Gilmore, Mary Boschee, Alli Karleskint and Gillian Wilbert also made history.

Gilmore won the 3,200 with a school record time of 11:27.23 and the 4x800 of Boschee, Karleskint, Wilbert and Gilmore also etched out their names in the record books with a winning and record time of 9:52.00.

The 4x400 also finished third (4:19) and the 4x100 placed fifth (53.67).

Karleskint was second in the 800 (2:28) and Wilbert sixth in the 400 (1:05). Katie Paulie was fourth in the 300 (52.01) and sixth in the 100 (18.84) hurdles. Brynn Sukraw placed fifth in the 100 hurdles (18.43).

Sarah Schibi placed fourth in the shot put (33-9), Kayla Hutchinson fourth in the triple jump (32-1/2) and Izy Bacon sixth in the javelin (101-10).

On the boys side, Klayton Adamson won titles in the 100 (11.07), 200 (22.52) and long jump (21-11).

SOUTHEAST

On the girls side, Jackie Robinson won the pole vault (9-0) and Macie Herron finished third (8-6). Zakiyyah Dickinson finished second in the shot put (34-8), Emma Gideon second in the high jump (5-0) and third in the 100 hurdles (18.34), Camryn Sanders third in the high jump (5-0) and sixth in the triple jump (30-10 1/2) and Kendyl Renn fourth in the 3,200 (13:57). The 4x800 also finished third (11:13).

On the boys side, Trey Sol Galindo won the pole vault (13-0) and Christopher Archey placed fifth (9-6). Zayne Gabern ran fourth in the 3,200 (10:20), the 4x800 placed fourth (8:51) and Dayton Sims placed fifth in the high jump (5-6).
