Excerpted stories in Crawford County newspaper archives 100 years ago Aug. 29, 1925 Three more families living in Girard will be added to the list of those who are obtaining gas from wells sunk on their own places. A will sunk to the depth of 875 feet of the place of Mrs. Adelheit Viets in the north part of Girard is producing 100-pound pressure of gas, one of the best showings made thus far by Girard residents who are producing their own fuel. Gas from this well will be piped a distance of 2,500 feet to the homes of Henry Viets, John Vincent and Dr. A. T. Havely, where it will be used for furnace heat and for cooking purposes.
