50 years ago October 6, 1976 Flu Shots are delayed in county — A shipment 1,800 doses of the swine flu vaccine arrived Thursday in Crawford County, but vaccinations will not be available for the general public until additional shipments arrive, Dr. Wesley Hall, Crawford County health officer, said Tuesday night. This first shipment will go to “meet the needs of the higher priority groups” as suggested by the state, Dr. Hall said. The shipment will be used to vaccinate persons in nursing homes, hospital employees, and the chronically ill. Additional shipments are expected, but Dr. Hall said he didn’t know how much of the vaccine the county would eventually get.
