Labette Health named among best hospitals

Posted

PARSONS, Kan. — Labette Health has been named by U.S. News & World Report to its 2023-2024 Best Hospitals as a high performing hospital for knee replacement. This is the highest distinction a hospital can earn for U.S. News’ Best Hospitals Procedures & Conditions ratings.

The annual Procedures & Conditions ratings are designed to assist patients and their doctors in making informed decisions about where to receive care for challenging health conditions or elective procedures.

“This distinction is made possible because of our dedicated team of physicians, clinicians and staff that continue doing everything it takes to provide the best care, for the best possible outcome, of each and every patient,” said Kerry Volmer, RN, Orthopedic Center Director. “We do not take this award for granted and we are truly honored to be recognized.”

U.S. News evaluated more than 4,500 hospitals across 15 specialties and 21 procedures and conditions. Hospitals awarded a “Best” designation excelled at factors such as clinical outcomes, level of nursing care and patient experience.

“For 34 years, U.S. News has provided data-informed rankings to help patients and their doctors find the best hospital to treat their illness or condition,” said Ben Harder, chief of health analysis and managing editor at U.S. News. “Fewer than half of evaluated hospitals earned any high performing rating. Hospitals that are high performing have excelled in providing high quality care in specific procedures and/or conditions.”

“Labette Health has a longstanding history for providing outstanding orthopedic care and I feel very blessed to be part of this award-winning team,” said Dr. Brad Meister, orthopedic surgeon. “The clinic staff, operating room staff, floor nurses, anesthesia team, and physical therapists provide some of the highest-quality care with a small-town personal feel that is hard to replicate at big-city hospitals. This national award is a reflection of the quality of work being done by Dr. Kevin Mosier, Dr. Brandon Morris and myself, as well as the rest of our orthopedic team.”

Labette Health, serving a six-county area since 1961, is a 99-bed licensed, hospital that provides acute, intensive and inpatient rehabilitation services. Labette Health serves southeast Kansas with clinics in Altamont, Chanute, Cherryvale, Chetopa, Coffeyville, Erie, Independence, Oswego, Parsons, Pittsburg and St. Paul, including an emergency department in Parsons and Independence and four express care locations in Parsons, Chanute, Independence and Oswego.
