Eastbound and Down coming to Topeka Zoo

Posted

TOPEKA, Kan. – Get ready for a Smokey and the Bandit style reunion at the Topeka Zoo. Eastbound and Down: The Ultimate Smokey and the Bandit Tribute will be hosted from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 27, featuring impersonators of the Bandit, Sheriff Buford T. Justice, Junior, and the good Doc, as they join Charlotte the elephant for a one-of-a-kind event.

Cora, the elephant who portrayed Charlotte in Smokey and the Bandit 2, now resides at the Topeka Zoo and will be on hand in the guest area to give fans of the classic film a chance to meet the stars and take photos.

"We're beyond excited to bring our tribute of Smokey and the Bandit to Topeka," said Sean Bailey, who portrays Sheriff Buford T. Justice.

Joining Bailey and Cora will be Jason Bobbitt, who portrays Junior, and Tim Phillips, who will be the Bandit.

"It's a fun and nostalgic way to celebrate the film's popularity and to showcase Charlotte's contribution to movie history," said Bobbitt.

Admission to the event is included with regular zoo admission. For more information and updates, visit the Topeka Zoo website or BanditandBuford.com.
