Dan D. Mosier

Dan D. Mosier, 84, of Girard, Kansas passed away at 6:18 a.m. Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at his home. He was born November 4, 1938 at Columbus, Kansas, the son of Robert E. and Lucy A. (Smith) Mosier. He graduated from Pittsburg State University in 1960 with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Education.

On November 7, 1958, he was united in marriage to Jacquelyn VanGorden at Grace United Methodist Church in Pittsburg. She preceded him in death November 4, 2013. Mr. Mosier served in the Kansas Army National Guard from January 1957 until February 20, 1963. Dan was also a Union meat cutter starting in high school through his retirement. Following his graduation, Dan moved to Elmdale, Kansas where he taught in the Elmdale High School from 1961 to 1965. He moved to the Lansing/Leavenworth area in 1965 and began working for the Lansing USD 469 school district as a teacher and activity director. He worked there from 1965 until his retirement in 1994. In 2011, Dan and Jackie moved to Girard to be closer to their hometown of Pittsburg and their high school classmates.

Survivors include two sons, Dan David Mosier II (Roz) of Farlington, Kansas and Stephen M. Mosier (Karlyn) of South Weber, Utah; a daughter, Debra L. Mosier of Girard, Kansas; one brother, Charles W. Mosier of Orofino, Idaho; fourteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a brother, Robert E. Mosier, Jr. and two sisters, Sandra K. Mackey and Della J. Monsour.

A Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Saturday, September 2, at the Brenner Mortuary. A Celebration of Life will follow the visitation at the Homer Cole Center. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Wesley House of Pittsburg. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762.
