Frontenac Fire Chief Jim Long reported to the city council that the department’s ISO rating has improved from a 5 to a 4, which affects insurance costs in the community, especially commercial properties.  Long credits the improved rating with increased training, new equipment and communications, and the department’s outreach programs. For a volunteer department in a community the size of Frontenac, Long says a rating of 4 is excellent.
