Gov. Laura Kelly fought to “axe the tax” on food during her last campaign, wanting to eliminate the state’s 6.5 percent food sales tax entirely. Kelly and the Republican-controlled state legislature agreed on a gradual reduction to zero by 2025. more

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation has launched an investigation following an officer-involved shooting in Cherokee County on Monday. Preliminary information indicates that a suspect found deceased after exchanging gunfire with deputies died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound following the incident, according to the KBI.  more

An 18-year-old Wichita woman was killed and a Parsons woman seriously injured Monday afternoon in a crash on US-400 highway about a mile south of Fredonia, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.  more
