Vincent Ray Rybnick

Vincent Ray Rybnick, 87, of Frontenac, KS passed from this life on December 20, 2023, at OakView Estates in Frontenac, KS following a battle with lung cancer.

Vince was born June 18, 1936, at home in Frontenac to Frank and Anna (Bernardin) Rybnick. Vince graduated from Frontenac High School in 1954 and attended Kansas State Teachers College (currently Pittsburg State University). On November 21, 1956, Vince was united in marriage to the love of his life, Roxie A. Lakey (Penachio) at the Crawford County Courthouse officiated by Judge Richard Loffswold as the first marriage officiated by Judge Loffswold. Roxie passed from this life on December 16, 2022.

As a young man, Mr. Rybnick served his welding apprenticeship at the Kansas City Southern shops and worked as a foreman for the Kansas Gas Service from 1963 until retirement. Vince was an avid sportsman and shared that love with his son and grandsons. Most of all, he enjoyed traveling with his wife and family which included many varieties of travel. Vince enjoyed anything that included his family. He and Roxie were familiar faces at any event in which a grandchild or great-grandchild was participating.

Survivors include a son, Cary Rybnick (Julie), and a daughter, Tana Swink (Richard), both of Frontenac; a sister, Linda VanLuyck (Bert) of Pittsburg, KS; five grandchildren, Joseph Rybnick (Kristen), Brett Rybnick (Kaylan), Ryan Edge, Jason Edge (Melissa), and Justin Edge (Chelsea); 11 great-grandchildren, Joshua and Phoenixx Edge; Adilynn, Liliann, and Leonard Rybnick; Matthew Swink; Marlie and Maylie Edge; and Renly, Anderson, and Bennett Edge; and several nieces and nephews.

Vince was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Frank Rybnick and Robert (Bob) Rybnick, and a grandson, Joshua Vincent Edge.

Visitation will be held on Saturday morning, December 23, from 10 to 11 with services immediately following at the Brenner Mortuary with Fr. Chris Rumback officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Frontenac.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the administration, staff, and residents of OakView Estates for the loving care and friendship during the past year and a half. You will always be dear to our hearts. The family suggests memorials to the Joshua Edge/Roxie Rybnick Scholarship Fund at Frontenac High School.
