Suspect arrested for domestic battery, warrants

PITTSBURG, Kan. — A local man was arrested Saturday on charges related to an alleged domestic violence incident, as well as outstanding arrest warrants, according to police. 

At approximately 5:12 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18, officers with the Pittsburg Police Department responded to the area of 1504 S. Joplin St. to a female requesting Crawford County EMS for injuries related to a domestic incident. 

Upon further investigation the officers learned the suspect in the domestic incident was Jordan Issiah Hayes, a 20-year-old male, who also had three outstanding warrants for his arrest, according to the PPD. 

After receiving confirmation that Hayes was inside the residence, officers made several attempts to reach Hayes but were unsuccessful, according to police. Officers believed Hayes to be an armed and barricaded suspect and members of the PPD Special Response Team responded to assist with the apprehension of Hayes. Entry was made into the residence and Hayes was apprehended without further incident. 

Hayes was arrested on charges stemming from the domestic incident including criminal restraint, interference with LEO, aggravated domestic battery, choke in rude manner, obstruct in felony warrant service or execution, and possession of methamphetamine. 

Hayes was also arrested on warrants that include charges of possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine, interference with LEO, and failure to appear. 

Hayes was being held without bond as of Monday, according to the PPD.
