Ronald Edward Uber 82 of Weir, Kansas went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 2:45 a.m. July 12, 2023.

Ronald was born in Weir Kansas on August 15, 1940 the son of Dane and Birdie Uber. Ronald grew up on a farm outside of Weir where he learned the value of hard work. Milking cows before school and in the fields after school.

As a teenager Ronald would meet the love of his life, the prettiest girl in town, as many have said, Roberta Elaine Penrod. The relationship was cut short though, as Roberta moved to Pennsylvania, and Ronald spent time in the military, serving at Minot North Dakota, and of course a tour in Vietnam. Ronald and Roberta's romance blossomed again after he returned from Vietnam, resulting in marriage on January 28, 1967. The marriage lasted 51 years, and only ended as a result of Ronald losing his bride to cancer.

Ronald worked for McNally's machine shop in Pittsburg Kansas, most of it as Machinist and Foreman, for more than 30 years at retirement. Ronald enjoyed many things in life: Always having a vegetable garden, playing cards with his son Dane as his partner, watching his Kansas City Chiefs, and having a cold beer every now and again. Ronald also spent much of his life with his children and grandchildren, never missing a basketball game or a football game. He could always be depended on to help with your car or your house or whatever was needed.

Ronald and Roberta became foster parents for the state of Kansas in the late 1990s. Having more than 100 teenagers spend time in their home. Ronald and Roberta were wonderful at this seeing many of the teenagers come to know Jesus as their savior during this time. They were also recognized as foster parents of the year for the state of Kansas.

Spending time together as a family was very important to Ronald and Roberta. Probably their favorite was the picnic at Lincoln Park on every July 4th in which almost everyone always attended.

The story of Ronald and Roberta would not be complete without recognizing the time spent with Melissa Sue, their granddaughter. Brain damaged at birth and told by many that she would not live past two or three years old, Ronald and Roberta open their home to her and gave constant care. Sacrificing incredible amounts of time to see that Melissa would live to be 29 years of age before the Lord took her home.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Dane and Birdie Uber, Two brothers, Roger and Jack Uber, One daughter, Teresa Marie Harris, one daughter-in-law, Mindi Sue Uber, and one granddaughter Melissa Sue Uber.

Surviving is one sister, Marjorie Uber, and one brother, Vernon Uber both of Grawley Missouri. Four sons, Albert Edward Taylor, Salina Kansas, Robert Wayne Taylor (Tammie), Dane Ronald Uber (Charlita), and Stephen Lloyd Uber all of Weir Kansas; Twenty grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren along with one great-great-grandchild.
