Iris Paulette Newton went home to be with the Lord on Sept. 22, 2024.
Paulette was born on Aug. 28, 1948, in Fort Scott KS, the youngest of six daughters born to Ira Ellen (Joyner) & Vernon Smith.
She attended Fort Scott public schools and graduated from Fort Scott Community College as a licensed practical nurse.
Paulette was a long-time resident of Pittsburg KS and was married to Timothy L. Newton Sr. for 42 years until his passing.
After many years of service, she retired from Crawford County Mental Health as the director of the drug addiction treatment center.
Paulette loved her lord and savior Jesus Christ and dedicated her life to serving him. She was a long-time member of Lighthouse Temple and more recently an active member of the Open Door Fellowship Church where she led the Prayer, and Grief Share ministries. Her personal hobbies included crafts, quilting, and a love for antiques.
Paulette leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters Stacie Stoner (Edward), Dana Hernandez, her son Tim Newton (Andrea), step-daughters Tonya and Mechelle Newton 12 grandchildren 18 great grandchildren family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 30, at Open Door Fellowship Church with Pastor Don Talent officiating. Burial will follow at 12:30 p.m. Monday at the National Cemetery in Ft. Scott. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, at Brenner Mortuary.
