Denise (Noland) Purvis

Denise A. (Noland) Purvis, age 70, passed away on June 9, 2024 after a valiant fight against an acute and rare leukemia.

Denise was born to Donald, Jr. and Katherine Noland on November 9, 1953, in Wamego, KS. Her formative years were spent in Chanute, where she graduated from Chanute High School in 1971. She attended Neosho County Community College and was a member of the Panther cheer squad. Denise was united in marriage to Curt Carpenter on Feb 15, 1980, and together they raised a blended family with children Lindsay, Megan, Alicia, and Chad. The family had many wonderful memories in Ness City, McCracken, and Great Bend. Denise and Curt later divorced but continued to share in many family activities. Denise then reconnected with Patrick Purvis following their years together in Junior College. They married on March 17, 2017, in Pittsburg at an outdoor ceremony presided by her brother, Judge Don Noland, III. They spent several years in Olathe and then retired to Pittsburg. Denise's career life took her in many directions as an EMT, in various administrative positions, and as an educational paraprofessional before retiring as the Director of Facility Operations and Workers' Compensation for Olathe Public Schools.

She was preceded in death by her mother Katie, her brother Donnie (whom she considered her hero), and a grandson, Hunter.

Denise is survived by her husband Patrick Purvis; her children Lindsay Williams and Megan Carpenter, and their families; father Don Noland, Jr; brother David (Beth) Noland; and sister-in-law Theresa Noland. Denise leaves behind a loving legacy to her cherished grandchildren Kolton, Hayden, Cassie, and Lainey, as well as to her bonus children and grandchildren. She is also survived by her beloved dog, Dublin.

Graveside Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday June 22, 2024 at the Highland Park Cemetery in Pittsburg, KS with Pastor Duane Elmore officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for services. Family will receive friends from 6 to 7:00 p.m. Friday June 21, 2024 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, KS. In lieu of flowers, the family asks expressions of sympathy to be in the form of memorials to Daughters' of the American Revolution and/or Kansas City Hospice.
