Posted

PITTSBURG, Kan. — Crawford County Mental Health (CCMH) is inviting all healthcare providers, community partners, mental health advocates, and community members to join in events celebrating the launch of two new programs next week.

Both events will take place from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at the Frisco Event Center, 210 E. 4th St. in Pittsburg, one on Monday, Feb. 27, and one on Tuesday, Feb. 28. The Monday event will mark the kickoff of the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) program, while the Tuesday event will celebrate the start of the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) program.

“This model of supported employment helps individuals with mental illness achieve competitive and integrated employment of their choosing regardless of their background characteristics,” CCMH said in its announcement of the IPS program. “Come find out how this new program will positively affect our community moving forward!”

CCMH also explained the focus of the ACT program.

“The ACT program will consist of concentrated, weekly wrap-around intervention services in a team approach to identify and provide appropriate services to reduce client interaction with law enforcement and unnecessary ER visits for the severe and persistently mentally ill,” according to CCMH. “ACT care is personalized, time un-limited, continuous, flexible, and comprehensive. ACT's goal is to give clients adequate community care and to help them live a life that is not dominated by their mental illness. Come find out how this new program will positively affect our community!”

Refreshments will be provided at both the IPS and ACT kickoff events.
