Mr. Alvin Mike "Al" Schamberger, 94, of Frontenac, Kansas, formerly of Webb City, Missouri, departed this life on Saturday morning, May 6, 2023, at Medicalodge in Frontenac, Kansas.

Alvin entered this life on June 23, 1928, one of eleven children born to the union of the late Raymond and Barbra (Riedel) Schamberger. He was born and raised in St. Peter, Kansas. On September 12, 1952, in Kansas City, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Ada Mae Klenk, and to this union, two daughters were born, Charlene and Anne. They resided in Wellington, Medicine Lodge and Pittsburg, Kansas, before moving to Webb City, Missouri, in 1959. Alvin was a truck driver and farmer throughout his life. He enjoyed polka dancing, mowing his yard, and grilling out with his family and friends. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a Veteran of the United States Army, serving in Korea. In 2019, he moved to the Pittsburg area to be closer to his two daughters.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Ada Schamberger on June 28, 1999; six brothers, Adolf, Mike, Felix, Clarence, Bill and Daniel Schamberger; and three sisters, Matilda and Marie Schamberger and Tillie Dinkel.

Alvin is survived by his two daughters, Charlene Schamberger of Frontenac, Kansas and Anne Windsor and husband, Mike, of Weir, Kansas; three step-grandsons, Michael, Matthew, and Morgan Windsor; one step-great grandson, Quest Windsor; a brother, Paul Schamberger; as well as a host of other family and friends.

A Rosary and Prayer Service will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023, beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home, with Father Francisco "Paco" Gordillo officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Webb City. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Mark Schamberger, Jim Schamberger, Earl Schamberger, Joe Curran, Donnie Westhoff, and Kerry O'Brien. Memorials are being directed to the Mount Hope Cemetery Care Fund c/o the funeral home.
