PSU announces commencement plans

Commencement ceremonies are planned for Friday, Dec. 16, in the Plaster Center and the Weede Gymnasium at PSU. A total of 316 undergraduate students are on the list to have degrees conferred, and 242 graduate students are on the list.  more
Last Christmas, Pittsburg Area Young Professionals (PAYP) along with Pittsburg State University’s Enactus were able to purchase and deliver 42 bicycles to area children in need. Matt O’Malley, 2022 PAYP president, said his goal was to be able to purchase 100 bicycles for children this year.   more

The Crawford County Commission briefly discussed maintenance issues of the Saia Overpass between Pittsburg and Frontenac at Friday’s regular meeting. Since the bridge is a major conduit into and out of Pittsburg’s northern industrial park, the county has taken an interest. more

Frontenac to host chess tournament

Frontenac High School Chess will be hosting a KSCA-governed Scholastic Chess Tournament on Jan. 7 that is open to all area schools, including those in Missouri and Oklahoma, and to all K-12 students. Participants will complete for individual and team awards.  more

On Wednesday, the Economic Development Advisory Committee met again with representatives of DVLP, a hometown development group renovating three downtown properties. The EDAC granted conditional approval for the request provided DVLP produced the names, business numbers and other necessary information about each LLC. No recommendation to the city commission will be made until these conditions are met.  more
